Navigate Teenhood was birthed in the year 2020. Our founder, Mrs.Deyon Callender-Hawkins has always had a passion & love for working with children. After years of working with children and becoming a 'big sister' to many teenagers during her run for pageant queen. She was reminded of the need for coaching & mentorship for pre-teen & teenage girls. When the world shut down in 2020 she made a move of using the medium of Instagram to reach out to these girls through a difficult & unprecedented season. Navigate Teenhood uses the medium of social media to inspire the next generation for the future.
In the near future, Navigate Teenhood will not only just provide content through social media but hopes to expand its reach through, speaking engagements, conferences, events, programs, and products.
Our founder Mrs.Deyon Callender-Hawkins is a Speaker, Mentor & Certified Life Coach. She is also a past pageant queen and holds the title of Miss Jamaica Florida 2019. Deyon has always had a passion & love for children since a young age. She migrated from Jamaica and graduated high school for the second time at 16 years old in the top 20 of her class. She then went to technical school and received a certificate in Early Childhood Education and worked in Early Childhood for a few years while pursuing her bachelor's in her other area of interest, Hospitality Management. After graduating from community college she went on to finish her bachelor of science in Hospitality Management from Florida International University, graduating Cum Laude and also with an Event Planning Certificate. After fully devoting her life to Christ in 2010, Deyon has worked at a number of ministries leading and assisting in taking care & teaching of children, from infants to young adults. This was done through programs such as Sunday School, Summer Camp, Vacation Bible School, Youth & Young Adults Ministry. During her race to becoming queen, she was able to be a 'big sister', mentor, role model & friend to the younger girls that entered the competition in the other categories. From working in ministries to now entering into the pageant Deyon continued to see the need for mentorship & coaching of young girls. During her reign, she used her online platform (Instagram) to educate others in the area of health awareness & self appearance through having a 'talk show' with special guests & experts in the field. She also served her community in numerous ways by attending community events, representing the organization, giving a helpful hand & being a remodel for many. Deyon founded Navigate Teenhood in 2020 and hopes to cultivate environments & community for pre-teens & teenage girls to become the best version of themselves so they may become the leaders the world needs for generations to come.
